Needle Palm — Value 222

Melee defense +1, Health +1, Effect duration +2

This Needle Palm is decent for its value, sacrificing powerful modifiers for good Ranged and Melee attributes. As such, this would be a great fusion weapon. It costs 12,300 hearts to convert into a weapon, and can be ground up for 119 hearts.

Knuckle Staff — Value 162
Ranged 0, Melee 2.5
Shot defense +1, Bkwd-dash cont. fire +2

Being a weapon with a value under 200, this Knuckle Staff is generally best used as a fusion piece, or as a learning tool. 2.5 Melee is actually quite good for a weapon of this value, but neither the Shot defense +1 or Bkwd-dash cont. fire +2 modifiers are all that impressive. Luckily, if you want this one, it’s cheap: only 3300 hearts to convert into a weapon. Of course, it can be ground up for 39 hearts, too.

Aurum Orbitars — Value 305
Ranged 5, Melee 4.5
Confusion +1, Walking speed +3, Forward-dash ch. shot +2, Side-dash cont. fire +3

Now we’re talking! These Orbitars have great Ranged and Melee scores, and the modifiers are fairly good too. Both Forward-dash ch. shot +2 and Side-dash cont. fire +3 work very well on orbitars, and Confusion and Walking speed work well on any weapon. These Aurum Orbitars cost a whopping 76,200 hearts to convert into a weapon, but can be ground up for 328 hearts.

Melee defense +1, Paralysis +1, Walking speed +2, Melee combo +3, Melee dash attack +2

The Skyscraper Club is obviously built as a Melee weapon, with a good Melee 3 combined with Melee defense, Melee combo, and Melee dash attack modifiers. Paralysis and Walking speed are good to have on any weapon, and even though this one’s a bit low in terms of value, it’s still definitely usable. It will cost 14,100 hearts to convert into a weapon, or can be ground up for 136 hearts.

Freezing +2, Melee dash attack +3, Recovery effect +2, Effect duration +2

This Zodiac Weapon has the rare Freezing modifier, which is a very effective status condition to inflict on your opponents. Melee dash attack +3 is also great on a Blade, where Recovery effect and Effect duration work well on anything. This weapon costs 21,100 hearts to convert, and can be ground up for 182 hearts.

No modifiers.

Ah yes, another Value 100 weapon. All this Volcano Arm is good for is trying out how the Volcano Arm handles – you can do MUCH better in terms of weapon fusion to make a better version of the weapon. Like all Value 100 weapons, it can be converted for 200 hearts or ground up for 12.

My streak of busyness continues, so I have another pair of Weapon Gems for you today!

Aurum Bow — Value 254
Ranged 2.5, Melee 1.5
Shot defense +1, Shot cancellation +1, Item attack +2

This Aurum Bow is pretty interesting, as it has two of the rarer modifiers in Kid Icarus Uprising: Shot cancellation and Item attack. Shot cancellation makes this weapon have a stronger change of nullifying enemy fire, and Item attack raises the power of things like Bombs. As these two modifiers are rare, they also raise a weapon’s Value quite a bit. If you are interested in this Aurum Bow, you can convert the Gem into a weapon for 21,600 hearts. If not, it can be ground up for 183 hearts.

Cragalanche Cannon — Value 271

Overall defense +6, Effect duration +3

Wow, look at that defense! Overall defense +6 is a very powerful modifier, greatly adding to your survivability in battle. The Cragalanche Cannon’s Ranged score and Effect duration +3 are also very powerful, too. This weapon is fairly impressive, and will cost 33,500 to convert from a Gem. If you decide that this Cragalanche Cannon’s not for you, you can always grind it up for 225 hearts.

Brawler Claws 213 – Daily Weapon Gem for January 15, 2012

Good morning, Orbitars! Here’s today’s Gem.

Brawler Claws — Value 213
Ranged 1, Melee 1.5
Shot defense +1, Stamina +3, Recovery effect +2, Heart bonus +1

These Brawler Claws are once again pretty average, as neither of the attributes are outstanding. Stamina +3 and Recovery effect +2 are both decent, plus the Shot defense and Heart bonus modifiers could come in handy as well. However, in spite of the good Stamina and Recovery effect, the weapon lacks punch (no pun intended). If you are interested in trying these Brawler Claws out, it will cost 10,500 hearts to convert them into a weapon. If not, you can always fuse them or grind them up for 103 hearts.

Even More Daily Weapon Gems (1/13, 1/14)

Hello, Orbitars!

My incredibly busy schedule continues, but I should be able to at least start posting Weapon Gems late (as I have been over the past few days). Anyway, here are yesterday’s and today’s Gems.


Crystal Bow — Value 210
Ranged 1.5, Melee 0.5
Overall defense +1, Knockback defense +1, Shot homing +1, Side-dash ch. shot +2, Melee combo +1, In-peril attack boost +1

This Crystal Bow is in many ways the exact opposite of what I like in a weapon: very unfocused modifiers with many +1s. None of the +1s on their own will make a huge difference (though modifiers like Shot homing and Overall defense are always good), and even Side-dash ch. shot +2 is lackluster here, as well. This Crystal Bow can be obtained for 10,000 hearts or ground up for 99 hearts.


Black Club — Value 193
Ranged 0.5, Melee 1.5
Melee defense +2, Shot homing +2, Full-health boost +4

This Black Club has a nice mix of effective modifiers, but unfortunately doesn’t have the attributes to be truly powerful. Melee defense +2 is good, but both Shot homing +2 and Full-health boost +4 are great, making this Club a great fusion component. In order to get this Club, you can pay 7200 hearts. If you aren’t interested, you can always grind it up for 73 hearts.

More Weapon Gems of Yesterday and Today (1/11, 1/12)

Good morning, Orbitars! Here are the Daily Weapon Gems for yesterday and today.


Centurion Orbitars — Value 100
Ranged 0, Melee 0
No modifiers.

Like all Value 100 weapons, these Centurion Orbitars are only good for seeing if you like how the weapon handles, because you could do a much better job at fusing your own version of the weapon with better attributes and modifiers. Like all Value 100 weapons, it can be purchased for 200 hearts or redeemed for 12 hearts.


Cancer Claws — Value 243
Ranged 1.5, Melee 3.5
Melee defense +3, Weakening +1, Speed +2, Side-dash cont. fire +2

These Claws are fairly good, combining a Melee 3.5 score with a good Melee defense +3 as well as Weakening +1 and Speed +2, both of which help the “ground game” immensely. Side-dash cont. fire also works quite well to round the weapon out. It costs 16,800 hearts to obtain these Cancer Claws, and can be ground up for 159 hearts.
